Ben was a BBC contract writer for Radio Light Entertainment in the mid 1990s during which time he also wrote for many TV shows including Spitting Image, Saturday Live, Smack the Pony, Alasdair MacGowan's Big Impression and the Big Breakfast. In 1997 he started performing comedy on Live and Kicking with Zoe Ball and Jamie Theakston. He then moved to ITV where he wrote (and then Script Edited) SMTV through its many award winning years. Since then he has written numerous children's comedy programmes including Horrible Histories (winner best children's Entertainment, best writer BAFTA 2010), Tracy Beaker Returns (winner best children's drama BAFTA 2010), The Basil Brush Show, Stupid, As the Bell Rings, Emu, MI High, and Disney's award winning Bus Life for which he was nominated for a BAFTA as Best Original Writer in 2004. Ben is also currently one of the core writers of BBC1's The Impressions Show.

As a writer/performer Ben was one sixth of the Cheese Shop sketch group who had several series on Radio 4 and a series on the paramount comedy channel. He was also one third of Men in Trousers who appeared on Live and Kicking from 1997 to 1999.

Ben is a two-time European Masters "Toad-in-the-hole" Champion and the captain of the current World Champions. He is also a Quoits champion and captain of the top ranked skittles team in the whole of the Lewes area. In case you hadn't worked it out already, he likes pub games. Since 2010 he has been a director of Lewes FC.
